PURPOSE: A method and a device for measuring a distance of an iris recognition system are provided to calculate a distance between a camera for obtaining an iris image and a user automatically. CONSTITUTION: An infrared rays spot image(503a) is projected to a user from a distance sensing pointer(503) for calculating a distance to a user. The spot image(503a) is projected to a face of the user. A video conference camera(501) photographs and obtains a face image of the user. At this time, the infrared rays spot image(503a) projected to the face of the user is obtained. A position and a size of the infrared rays spot image(503a) on the face of the user are changed according to a distance between the user and the camera. If an approach is performed from a long distance(Dx) to a near distance(Dy), the position of the spot image(503a) is moved toward the upper position of the face.
