PURPOSE: A plasma display device is provided to achieve improved luminance efficiency and color purity by using, as a discharge gas, mixture gas consisting of neon, xenon and argon gases, and optimizing configuration and driving condition of the plasma display device. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display device(10) comprises a front substrate(21) and a rear substrate(11) which are attached with each other so as to form a discharge space; electrodes(23,24) arranged at the front substrate or the rear substrate so as to cause a discharge; and a phosphor layer coated in the discharge space and excited by the ultraviolet ray generated by the discharge of electrodes. The discharge gas to be injected into the discharge space, is made of a mixture gas consisting of neon, xenon and argon gases which are mixed at the ratio of 2000/P to 6000/P percent of xenon gas and 3.5 to 30 percent of argon gas, when the discharge gas has a pressure of P torr. |
