A data conversion system includes a terminal device (10) belonging to a first communication network, a server device (30) belonging to a second communication network having a protocol different from that of the first communication network and a protocol conversion device (20) provided at a connection point between the first communication network and the second communication network for conducting protocol conversion. The data conversion means (23) for receiving constraint information peculiar to the terminal device (10) is added to a request from the terminal device (10) for obtaining predetermined contents from the server device (30) and converting predetermined contents obtained from the server device (30) into data based on the constraint information. The data conversion means (23) determines whether predetermined contents obtained from the server device (30) are image data or not and when the predetermined contents are image data, converts the predetermined contents into data based on the constraint information.
