SOLUTION: A transmission side client 3 transmits e-mail to a reception side client 4, a mail server 2 that detects the arrival of the transmitted e-mail transmits mail information about the received e-mail to a portable terminal device 1 carried by a user who utilizes e-mail at the reception side client 4, and the portable terminal device 1 that receives the mail information displays an image representing the contents of the mail information. The user can visually and intuitively recognize information such as an e-mail transmission source or its significance, etc., by registering a plurality of images about mail information of various contents.
