PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus having high durability and reliability of a moving member for improving noise characteristics and image quality and enabling a small body. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes reading means (20, 20a and 20b) for reading the image and generating an image electric signal according to the read image, reading/light emitting means (42 and 42a) mounted on the reading means for converting the image electric signal to an image optical signal and transmitting the signal, control/light emitting means (30 and 30a) for converting a control electric signal which controls the reading operation of reading means to a control optical signal and transmitting the signal, reading/ light receiving means (40 and 40a) for receiving the image optical signal, and control/light receiving means (32 and 32a) mounted on the reading means for receiving the control optical signal.
