PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate influence of reverse incident light through an eyepiece shutter at defect detection and to cope with degradation of a defect of pixel over aging without generating erroneous detection. SOLUTION: In this imaging system having a defect data detecting part to detect a pixel defect address by analyzing image pickup output to be obtained at a state that incident light on an image pickup device 202 is shielded and a defect compensating part to perform a compensation processing by adjacent image data to the output of the image pickup device 202 based on the detected defect data, it is constituted so that acquisition of defect data is allowed only when the eyepiece shutter 211 is closed by providing the eyepiece shutter 211 to shield incidence of light from a finder opening to the image pickup device 202.
