PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source constituted of a plurality of thin and compact laser diode modules in which wavelengths are not changed, which are arranged with high density and have high optical outputs. SOLUTION: The light source is constituted of a plurality of the laser diode modules that have metallic substrates loading laser diode chips and optical units and Peltier elements which are thermally connected to the metallic substrates, that are arranged with high density and have high optical outputs, of a loading part loading a plurality of the laser diode modules, of a control substrate loading a control element controlling the laser diode modules, and of a plurality of heat pipes whose heat absorbing parts are thermally connected to the Peltier elements and the control element.
