PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an output part without generating any difference in electric characteristics when signal charges are transferred in different directions by a plurality of charge transfer registers. SOLUTION: The signal charges from a large number of photoelectric converting elements are transferred by a vertical charge transfer register to horizontal charge transfer registers 8, 10. The horizontal charge transfer registers 8, 10 transfer the signal charges to first and second output sections 2 and 4 where the signal charges are converted into voltage and outputted. The output sections 2 and 4 comprise signal charge detecting sections 16 and 18, transistors 20 and 22, and first and second charge sweeping sections 24 and 25 wherein the first and second signal charge detecting sections 16 and 18, a source 32, a drain 34 and a gate 30 of each transistor, and a gate 40 and a charge sweeping region 38 of each charge sweeping section 24 are shaped such that corresponding ones are congruent to each other in order to prevent the generation of a difference in the characteristics due to a positional shift.
