A warp knitting loom has a number of dividing sinkers (8,9) on a support beam (14). A drive system moves the needle bars through predetermined paths. The loom further has warp beams from which threads feed to the dividing sinkers in warp presentation. A powered (16) linear guide (13) esp. moves the beam (14) transverse to the needle bar (4) direction of travel. Warp presentation to the needles (7) is direct to the dividing sinkers without obstruction by the dividing sinkers. The warp beams (18,19) are followed by variable-position thread guides (22,23). Threads (20,21) proceed direct from the guides (22,23) to the needles (7). The needle bar moves in the opposite direction to the dividing sinkers (8,9). The linear guide (13) has a number of crank (16) operated parallel rider guides (14) on a machine frame (18) traverse (17).
