A female electrical connector has a skirt (17) and electrical contact members (20) arranged movably in and extending inwardly from the inner wall of hte skirt. This connector amy be made by a mehtod , in which a first plurality or set of perpipherally spaced through holes (21) are formed in the skirt (17) of a connector body (16) of an electrically insulating material at a first plane at right angles to the ayis of the skirt. An elongated, flexible electrical conductor (22) is fastened to a first plurality of contact members (20), which are mutually spaxed along the lenght of the connector corresponding to the peripheral mutal spacing of the said through hoels (21) measured along the outer peripheral surface ofhte skirt. thereafter, the flexible conductor (22) is arranged along the outer peripheral surface of the skirt and the contact memebers (22) are inserted into their respecitve holes. Finally, resilient means (23) is aplied to the outer peripheral surface of the skirt (17) so as to resiliently retain the movable contact memberts in relation to the skirt (17) and which are embedded int eh resilient mass (23). A mandrel (27) may be arranged within the skirt so as to correctly position the contact members (20) in reation to the skirt (17), while the resilient mass is applied.
