ANTIHYPERTENSIVE COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE EXTRACT OF ARALIA ELATA SEEM

PURPOSE: An antihypertensive composition containing the extract of Aralia elata SEEM is provided, thereby treating and preventing disease associated with hypertension. CONSTITUTION: The antihypertensive composition contains the extract of Aralia elata SEEM which is obtained by extracting Aralia elata SEEM with water or an organic solvent, wherein the organic solvent is selected from the group consisting of methanol, ethanol, butanol, hexane and ethylacetate; the organic solvent is selected from the group consisting of hexane, ethyl acetate, butanol and water; the extract of Aralia elata SEEM is purified by reverse phase silica gel chromatography using 10 to 50% of methanol; and the composition can be a pharmaceutical composition or a food composition.
