A method for replacing first identification data, which identify and are associated with an account placed in a financial institution, said first identification data being stored on a portable transaction device and at the financial institution, comprises the following steps: a) communication of the first identification data to the financial institution; b) generation of second identification data stored at the financial institution and on the portable transaction device in place of the first identification data and c) association of the second identification data with the account at the financial institution with the purpose of a subsequent identification of the account using the second identification data. |
