摘要 Known methods in length measuring technique for calibrating the diameter of cylinders and cones or balls are too imprecise or too costly and labour-consuming. The inventive method solves many of these pending problems. The most important elements of the invention are (at least) three precision auxiliary balls (HK) having very similar diameters, said balls being contained between the above-mentioned concentrically arranged, rotationally symmetrical inner and outer elements and a further concentrically arranged, rotationally symmetrically element, subjected to an axial measuring force (F). The description indicates a form of embodiment for measuring the diameter of inner cylinders (Zy) or balls (K). The probe (1) is used to measure the difference between the detected positions when the ball (K) is arranged on the auxiliary balls (HK) and on the plane element (Rau) without the auxiliary balls and to calculate the diameter of either the inner cylinder or the ball therefrom. The inventive method can also be used in similar ways to measure the diameter of outer cones, inner cones and outer cylinders. Measuring uncertainties of few decimicrons can easily be arrived at using the diameter measuring method.
