The invention relates to an electrical component provided with a functional unit (1), which comprises a base body (2) with a contact surface (3) and a contact element (4). The electrical component is also provided with a housing (5), which is made of a material containing plastic, which is under tensile stress and which presses the contact element (4) against the contact surface (3). Solder and thus metals that can migrate can be forgone since the contacting of the base body (2) is effected by the housing (5) that is under tension. This results in improving the moisture stability of the component. The invention also relates to the use of said component.
