A gear drive (1) connects a motor (2) to a gear (3) and includes an axle (4) as part of the gear drive assembly (5), also including support bearings (6,7) receiving the axle. The axle is arranged so that it is rotated by engagement of its teeth (13) with the worm drive (14) of the motor and transmits rotation to the gear, while a radial stabilizer structure (16) prevents dislodging of the axle from the bearings. Independent claims are included for a method of controlling a motor and for an axle.
