PURPOSE: To improve the light emitting efficiency of a discharge lamp, lessen the waveform strain of input current, and miniaturize an inductor of a passive filter circuit to be connected with an input part of an a.c. electric power source, regarding a discharge lighting apparatus which rectifies all waveforms of a.c. electricity and transforms partly filtered voltage into high frequency waveforms by an inverter circuit to light a discharge lamp. CONSTITUTION: A discharge lamp lighting apparatus is composed of an all waveforms rectifying circuit 1 to rectify all waveforms of an a.c. power source (e), a partly filtering circuit 2 to carry out a partial filtering only for low voltage periods of pulse voltage sent out of the all waveforms rectifying circuit 1, and an inverter circuit 3 which utilizes the output voltage of the partly filtering circuit 2 as an input electric power source and supplies high frequency electric current to a discharge lamp Lp. Further the apparatus is provided with an output stabilizing means to control wave height value of the output current to be supplied to the discharge lamp Lp corresponding to the output voltage value of the partly filtering circuit 2 in the way the wave height value shows almost completely stabilized waveform. The wave height value of the output current is set to be 1.6-1.8 preferably. |
