PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lid braking mechanism of a rice boiler avoiding increases in the number of parts and man-hours for assembly, and reducing a variation in braking force. SOLUTION: The rice boiler has a body 2 and a lid 3 openably attached thereto and biased in an opening direction by a hinge spring 5. An outwardly- protruding folded part is formed in a portion of the hinge spring and a contact part 12 is positioned at a portion of the lid 3. When the lid is opened, the folded part formed in the hinge spring is made to abut against the contact part 12 of the lid to apply a braking force to prevent the lid from being opened with impulse.
