PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load power compensating system which makes charging time of a compensating power portion shorter, and makes a charging quantity appropriate. SOLUTION: A load power compensating system has a compensating power portion 5 connected through a bidirectional converter 6, a detector 3 for detecting the power of a commercial power source 1 and the demand of a load 2, and a charge and discharge control portion 7 which is controlled by the output of the detector. The bidirectional converter 6 is controlled by the control unit 7. When the demand of the load is lower than a contract demand of the commercial power source by a large margin, the compensating portion 5 is quickly charged. When the demand of the load approaches the contract demand of the commercial power source, the charging of the compensating portion 5 is controlled so as not to exceed the contract demand. When the demand of the load exceeds the contract demand of the commercial power source, the compensating power portion is discharged.
