MATRIX TYPE DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption due to the voltage change in segment signal lines at the time of performing assigning intensity levels by a PWM (pulse width modulation) in a display device selecting plural lines. SOLUTION: In this display device, power consumption is reduced while lessening probability in which the voltage change is occurred in the boundary between horizontal scanning periods by changing the counting method of a counter part 15 for controlling selectors 16 for every horizontal scanning period in the selectors 16 for selecting of voltage values corresponding to respective bits of input data to be impressed on segment signal lines and for controlling selection periods of the voltage values, that is, pulse widths to make the selector input which is selected in a certain horizontal scanning period and the selector input which is selected at the beginning of a horizontal scanning period next to the certain horizontal scanning period coincide.
