PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input characters by a simple operation by using only a display unit and an extremely few input keys without making it necessary to provide any other member such as stylus pen. SOLUTION: One of characters (or character strings) included in a virtual character sheet on which a plurality of characters are two-dimensionally arrayed at a character input position near the position of a cursor 10a of a display unit 10. Then, display switching is operated so that the relative position relation of the character input position to the virtual character sheet can be adjusted, and a desired character is displayed at the character input position, and the input of the character included in the virtual character sheet is decided by operating a selection character deciding key 2. Also, a plurality of virtual character sheets on which characters in different categories such as HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary), KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary), and alphanumeric characters are two-dimensionally arrayed are prepared, and switched by a sheet switching and conversion key 3. |
