The optical device comprises a section of dual core fibre comprising a power exchange zone enabling transfer between the two cores. At either end of the dual core fibre there is a planar component comprising two guides, allowing matching between the two cores of the dual core fibre and mono-core optical fibres. The optical device comprises a section of dual core fibre comprising at least one power exchange zone enabling transfer between the two cores, which is situated sufficiently far away from each end of the length of fibre that it does not exchange power between the two cores at the level of the interface. A planar component comprising at least two guides allows matching on one side to the two cores of the dual core fibre and on the other side to a further auxiliary optical elements. These auxiliary elements may comprises mono-core optical fibres. Two planar components may be used as described, situated at the two ends of the dual core fibre.
