In an encryption storage apparatus (data storage apparatus) (1), when an allocation request signal (a1) is input, a key management block (7) outputs a generation request signal (b) to a random number generation block (3). Upon reception of the generation request signal (b), the random number generation block (3) generates a pseudo-random number as an encryption key (c). The key management block (7) stores the encryption key (c) in a volatile key storage block (4) and returns a corresponding key number (a2) to a user. When the user enters an encryption instruction signal (a3) and the key number (a2) into the key management block (7), the key management block (7) reads out the corresponding encryption key (c) and an encryption block (5) converts entered data (d1) into encrypted data (d2) and stores it in a non-volatile storage block (2). When a user enters a decryption instruction signal (a4) and the key number (a2) into the key management block (7), the key management block (7) reads out the corresponding encryption key (c) and a decryption block (6) converts the encrypted data (d2) into decrypted data (d3). Thus, data stored in the non-volatile storage device is hardly decrypted by an outsider in chain manner.
