An ink jet recording ink composition characterized in that ultrasonic transmission amount, measured by using a paper medium that requires a maximum ultrasonic transmission time of up to 1 sec until a maximum ultrasonic transmission amount is reached when water is absorbed, is represented by at least 90% in 2 sec. This ink jet recording ink composition can increases an ink fixing speed with respect to general plain paper having fibers thereof exposed to its recording surface and having been subjected to sizing, and can prevent a 2-way color shift when two colors are mixed.
