PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the life of an image carrier, and also to prevent the formation of abnormal image caused by discharge products adhering onto the image carrier, in an image forming device obtaining a recording image by transferring an toner image formed on the image carrier to a recording medium by a transfer roller. SOLUTION: The discharge products adhering to the surface of the image carrier are removed by using a transfer roller 11 having a polar adsorbent, and bringing the transfer roller 11 into direct contact with the surface of the image carrier 1 without interposing a recording medium P.
