The car jack is supported inside a main body made from a U shaped metal pressing (10). The pressing is made from a single flat sheet. The ends have slotted side flanges to enable the ends to be folded down to form upper and lower support plates. The upper plate has the securing hole (16) for the screw thread spindle. The support body is made from simple pressings and requires little preparation. The side flanges are reinforced by pressed grooves (13) to prevent twisting.
