A bleaching composition is provided for effective bleaching with a bleach catalyst at low temperatures. The bleaching composition comprises ofa) from 0.05 microM to 50 mM of an organic substance which forms a complex with a transition metal;b) a source of active oxygen corresponding to 0.05 to 100 mM of active oxygen; andc) an effective amount of liquid carbon dioxide.
