PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium phthalocyanine compound suitable for an electronics-related material without bothersome operations such as recrystallization, reprecipitation and sublimation or purification. SOLUTION: This method for producing a titanium phthalocyanine compound comprises heating a phthalodinitrile derivative and a titanium halide compound together with an aromatic halocarbon in the presence of a basic compound in an equimolar amount or less to the phthalodinitrile derivative, preferably at 0.01-0.1 mol. The titanium phthalocyanine compound thus obtained has the main peak at a Bragg angler 2θ(±0.2 deg.) of 7.4 deg. in the X-ray diffractometry using CuKαrays.
