PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-absorbing and rapidly dryable woven or knitted fabric having moisture-absorbing properties in addition to the water-absorbing and rapidly dryable properties, and hardly losing the properties even if being subjected to a dyeing step. SOLUTION: This woven or knitted fabric including a core-sheath type composite yarn comprising a core part composed of a fiber having >=3.5% official moisture regain, and a sheath part composed of a fiver having <=1.0% official moisture regain, as at least a part is characterized in that the core part and the sheath part of the core-sheath type composite yarn may not reversed eve if the woven or knitted fabric is treated in hot water at 135 deg.C for 45 min.
