PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester fiber for an industrial material, having an excellent weather resistance and abrasion resistance and also excellent in processing property, at a low cost. SOLUTION: This polyester fiber of which main component consists of a polyethylene terephthalate, and excellent in weather resistance and abrasion resistance is obtained by performing continuously the stretch and heat treatment of it without winding it up once and then winding it up at >=1,500 m/min speed. The fiber has >=0.85 intrinsic viscosity [η], >=60 monofilament fineness (dtex), and >=3.5 strength (cN/dtex).
