PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition capable of improving stain removability, adhesivity, adhesivity, weather resistance and preservability for a glass substrate, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This coating composition comprises ultramicroparticles of metal oxides including zinc oxide, titanium oxide, silica and antimony-incorporated tin oxide and a binder comprising lithium silicate. The other objective method for producing the above coating composition comprises applying high pressure onto a blend of the ultramicroparticles of metal oxides including zinc oxide, titanium oxide, silica and antimony-incorporated tin oxide and the binder comprising lithium silicate and jetting the blend on the wall surface of diamond or the like to effect dispersing the ultramicroparticles in the binder. The coating composition thus obtained is applied either directly or via a coating film 2 or the like onto a substrate 1 such as of glass and used as the resulting protective film 3.
