PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which can optically be coupled to an optical fiber with high efficiency even when the emission region width of a semiconductor laser is wide. SOLUTION: When optically connecting a semiconductor laser 104 having a wide emission region width to an optical fiber 105, the incidence size of an optical waveguide body 101 is adjusted to the emission size of the semiconductor laser 104, and the emission size of the optical waveguide body 101 is adjusted to the incidence size of the optical fiber 105, respectively, and part of the side surface of the optical waveguide body 101 is made oblique to the width direction and the height direction of the emission region of the semiconductor laser 104. Thereby, while a spot size of light is transformed into the spot size of the optical fiver 105 from that of the semiconductor laser 104 by using the optical waveguide body 101, the angle of divergence of light emitted from the optical waveguide body 101 is suppressed, and the semiconductor laser 104 and the optical fiber 105 are optically connected with high efficiency. |
