PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a compact switch mechanism easily applicable to a hand tool device of low output and to positively restrain a tool spindle by a technically simple means. SOLUTION: This switch mechanism for switching the operating mode of the hand tool device 2 generating at least partial rotary motion and/or striking motion is provided with a first shift sleeve 11 for a switchable striking drive part 6; a second shift sleeve 12 for a switchable rotating drive part connected to a tool spindle 4 through a countershaft 3; and a switching auxiliary means 10 for connecting both shift sleeves 11, 12 to each other in a relatively rotatable manner. The countershaft 3 and a striking drive shaft 5 of the striking drive part 6 are arranged parallel in proximity to each other in a common axial region B, and a pair of driving gears 7 are rotatably supported by the countershaft 3 and the striking drive shaft 5 respectively through the shift sleeves 11, 12.
