1,255,065. Travelling-band filters. F. BILABEL. 26 March, 1969 [19 June, 1968], No. 15746/69. Heading B1D. In a travelling band filter the upper run of the endless band 5 passes over a pair of connected suction chambers 1A, 1B, above which distributor 3 delivery slurry on to the band, then over guide 16 and over separate suction chambers 1C, 1D where the filter cake is washed and dried, guide 16 being so located that no mixing of the liquid pools on the band in the filtering and washing zones can occur. The chambers have separate suction pumps and gas-liquid separators. The band comprises plates suspended between chains and covered by fabric and possibly felt. Figs. 2, 3 (not shown) illustrate devices for delivering filter aid on to the upper run of the band to the left of chamber 1B or into distributor 3 where it mixes with the sludge. The band is sealed to the edges of the chambers by multi-gap seals 5A, 22, 23, 5B, to which filtrate is supplied. |
