PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for an airbag to form an airbag stable for a long period without causing the blocking of the cloth surfaces, sufficiently and quickly expandable over a wide temperature range from a low temperature to a high temperature and having light weight. SOLUTION: The coating material contains a polyurethane as a film-forming component. The polyurethane is produced by using a diol component consisting of a compound having a fluorine-containing side chain and expressed by general formula 1 (RF is a 1-20C perfluoroalkyl or alkenyl; X is a 1-10C alkylene, alkenylene or alkylenephenoxy; Y is none or O, NH or R0 -NH (R0 is a 1-6C alkylene); Z is none or N(R')R (R is a 1-20C alkylene; R' is H or a 1-6C alkyl; R1 and R2 are each a bivalent organic group; R3 is a diisocyanate residue) or the above compound and a polysiloxane having active hydrogen atom.
