METHOD FOR PRODUCING IMIDAZOLIDINONE DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for producing an imidzolidinone derivative by which safety is high as compared with a conventional method for production in which there are a plurality of complicated steps and the process is not regarded as sufficient in aspects of safety. SOLUTION: This method for producing the imidazolidinone derivative comprises (i) a step of reacting a ketone represented by general formula (1) with hydrogen cyanide or its salt in the presence of a salt of ammonia and water and converting the ketone represented by the general formula (1) into an aminonitrile, (ii) a step of separating the resultant reactional liquid into two phases of an oily phase containing the aminonitrile derivative of the ketone represented by the general formula (1) and the unreacted ketone represented by general formula (1) and an aqueous phase and (iii) a step of adding an organic solvent and a basic substance to the oily phase and reacting the aminonitrile derivative of the ketone represented by the general formula (1) with the ketone represented by the general formula (1).
