PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device which has a small light leak and high lighting efficiency. SOLUTION: The reflection type liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal display element which is equipped with at least a lower substrate 53 having a light source 11 on its end surface and equipped with a reflecting plate 6, an upper substrate 51 provided with a light reflecting means for reflecting transmitted light to the substrate side, and liquid crystal 52 sandwiched between the lower substrate and upper substrate and so constituted that light is made incident from the opposite surface of the upper substrate from the surface in contact with the liquid crystal, reflected by the reflecting plate provided to the lower substrate 53, and projected from the opposite surface of the upper substrate 51 from the surface in contact with the liquid crystal 52; and a reflecting layer is provided on at least >=1 end surface other than the end surface where the light source 11 is arranged. |
