PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tableware, and the like, which are made of austenitic stainless steel having carburization hardened layers on the surfaces, have smooth surfaces or mirror finished surfaces free of an 'orange peel', and have excellent appearance, or the tableware, and the like, having the surfaces of the hardened layers finished to the smooth mirror finished surfaces. SOLUTION: The tableware, and the like, consist of the austenitic stainless steel having an average grain size of <=100μm in crystal grains and are formed with the carburization hardened layers on the surfaces of the stainless steel, or consist of the austenitic stainless steel, are formed with the carburization hardened layers on the surfaces and are formed with anodically oxidized films of 120 to 260Åin thickness on the surfaces of the hardened layers. The method for manufacturing the tableware, and the like, includes respective stages of subjecting the tableware, and the like, to fluorination treatment and gas carburization treatment or includes the respective process steps of subjecting tableware, and the like, to the above specific fluorination treatment, gas carburization treatment and electrolytic treatment and dissolves away the black films formed on the surfaces of the tableware, and the like, from the surfaces by the gas carburization treatment.
