摘要 PURPOSE: A cold CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) type illumination device is provided to reduce the power consumption increasing in proportion to the length of the lamp by changing the driving method and minimize the generation of harmful electro waves. CONSTITUTION: A cold CRT type illumination device includes cold CRT type lamps(280) respectively having a cold CRT type lamp tube in the cylindrical shape of a predetermined length, a first electrode formed at an end of the lamp tube, and a second electrode formed at the other end of the lamp tube opposing the first electrode, a waveform generating part(230) for generating a first voltage having a waveform of which polarity inversion is carried out in a time period shorter than an electron annihilation time period during which the electrons in the lamp tube is applied from the first electrode to the second electrode to be annihilated, and a booster element for boosting the first voltage to a minimum second voltage required for flowing the electrons between the first and second electrodes and applying the first voltage to the cold CRT type lamp.
