PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutoff method which is available in the case where a long cutoff member is set at a cutoff portion of a joint portion between steel pipe sheet piles, steel sheet piles, etc., and a connecting portion between caissons, etc., even if the cutoff portion is spatially large or small, facilitates setting of the cutoff member, and implements positive cutoff by employing the cutoff member formed of a generally available material. SOLUTION: According to the cutoff method, a long tubular body 10 formed of rubber, a urethane resin, or the like, is folded in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction thereof, to thereby obtain a flat banded body 11 having a reduced sectional area of a hollow portion 6 thereof. Then, the banded body 11 is attached to a joint portion or the like of a sheet pile beforehand, and then the sheet pile is driven, whereby the banded body 11 is set at the cutoff portion. Alternatively, the banded body 11 is inserted into the joint portion or the like of the driven sheet piles, whereby the banded body is set at the cutoff portion. Thereafter, mortar 5 or the like is filled in the hollow portion, and therefore the hollow portion 6 of the tubular body 10 is inflated in cross section to assume an almost circular shape, to thereby block a predetermined cutoff space.
