摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary characteristics and to obtain a high function by varying the position and value of lateral pressure by using the lateral pressure induction polarization mode coupling of PMF. SOLUTION: An input light is made incident through a polarizer 2 and an output light is projected through PMF1 and the other polarizer 3. Light may be made incident and projected reversely. The PMF1 has two orthogonal axes of polarization and the axis of polarization of the polarizer 2 is coupled meeting one axis of polarization of the PMF1. The axis of polarization of the polarizer 3 is coupled meeting one axis of polarization of the PMF1. When a polarized light is made incident on the PMF1 at a specific angle to the axis of polarization, polarization mode coupling is induced by applying lateral pressure to the PMF1. The position and value of the lateral pressure by an application part 5 are varied to vary characteristics and functions and it is also easy to precisely match the PMF length 1 of a basic structure.</p>
