PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range changeover device for an automatic transmission causing no transmission of vibration to an assisting range selecting means. SOLUTION: The range changeover device of the automatic transmission is composed of an actuator 3 for driving an output shaft 18 to an operating position corresponding to a shift range selected by a range selecting means 1, a range selecting lever 7 coupled with a range changeover member 6 of the automatic transmission 5, a clutch lever 8 coupling the lever 7 with the output shaft 18, the assisting range selecting means 4 selecting the shift range in lieu of the range selecting means 1, and an assisting output member 9 which is locked with a stationary member such as a case 20 in a standby position apart from the range selecting lever 7, operated mechanically by the assisting range selecting means 4 to cause unlocking from the standby position and movement to an operating position, operates the clutch lever 8 and is engaged with the range selecting lever 7.
