PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extremely fine electric discharge machine and a method of positioning a workpiece, improving a throughput by shortening a time required for positioning. SOLUTION: The extremely fine electric discharge machine 1 comprises a machining tank 4 for storing the workpiece W, a discharge electrode for machining the workpiece W, machining tank moving means for horizontally moving the machining tank W to X- and Y-axial directions, and discharge electrode moving means for vertically moving the discharge electrode in a Z-axial direction, wherein work moving means 14 (workpiece moving means) is provided for moving the workpiece W in the X-, Y- and Z-axial directions to be located at a desired machining position.
