PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sweetener prepared from dried leaves of a plant body belonging to a variety of Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni cultivatable from seed and to provide a method for sweetener production. SOLUTION: This sweetener is produced from dried leaves of a plant belonging a variety of Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni capable of growing leaves containing rebaudioside A of >=2.56 times as much as stevioside. This method for producing the sweetener is provided.
