<p>Underwater transmitter, esp. for transmitting telecontrol or telemetered information between the surface and an array of submerged stations, e.g. well heads, comprises (a) a main loop (1) connected to the surface and situated on the sea bed adjacent to the submerged stations, (b) secondary loops situated in the vicinity of each station and designed so that a magnetic field generated by the main loop (by a modulated a.c. supply) is picked up by each of the secondary loops or vice versa, and (c) provision for creation of the modulated a.c. supply and for using the data obtd. Only one cable needs to the run to the sea bed, instead of a separate calbe for each well head.</p> |
