PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a masking tool certainly masking a seat surface and a shaft part standingly provided on the seat surface. SOLUTION: The masking tool 10 masking the seat surface 3 and the shaft part 4 when a work 1 having the seat surface 3 and the shaft part 4 standingly provided on the seat surface 3 is painted has a body part 11 having an opening end 12 to which the shaft part 4 can be inserted, being a cylindrical shape with a bottom of which the other end is closed and capable of covering the shaft part 4; an annular seal part 20 permitting an insertion of the shaft part 4 disposed along the opening end 12; and a retaining means 14 provided in the body part 11 and engaged with the shaft part 4 to urge the seal part 20 to the seat surface 3 and retaining the body part 11 to the shaft part.
