The unit has an elastomere sealing ring between the tip end and the sleeve end of two pipes. The sealing ring (3) has a reinforcement (5) on the surface facing the sleeve end (2), which is of a different material and has higher tensile resistance than the elastomere. An additional ring (4) of non-elastic synthetic foam is positioned partially behind the sealing ring. The inner surface of the additional ring is profiled and has cell-shaped recesses (6).
