The manual drive for vehicle has two levers fastened to the handlebars and kinematically connected to a drive wheel. The axles of the driven and driving chain wheels (6,7) are at 90 degrees to one another to increase drive efficiency and to improve riding quality. The drive chain (12) forms a closed contour, and enables opposite rotational directions of both the driven and driving chain wheels as well as following consecutive selection of the freewheel clutch of the drive wheel. A transfer and tensioning device (13) is thereby fitted on the drive chain.
