PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of installing a generator in an existing pipeline. SOLUTION: The method of installing a generator comprises a split tee attaching process for attaching a pair of split tees 2, separated from each other in the axial direction, with a branch valve V1 to an existing line 1 through which water flows under pressure, a branch take-out process for forming branch holes in the existing line 1 under non-cutoff water for allowing the branch take-out from the split tees 2, a bypass piping process for mounting a bypass 3 between the split tees 2 with the branch valve V1 closed and mounting a generator P on the bypass 3, and a valve inserting process for mounting a main valve V2 under non-cutoff water in the inside of the pair of branch holes in the existing line 1 for stopping water flow inside an existing pipe 10.
