PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (meth)acrylate ester polymer having a vinyl ether group as a side chain economically and efficiently. SOLUTION: A (meth)acrylate ester polymer is produced by reacting a hydroxyl group-containing (meth)acrylate ester polymer having a structural unit represented by the formula (1) [R<1> is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R<2> is an organic residue], the vinyl ethers represented by the formula (2): R<3> -O- CH=CH-R<4> [R<3> is an organic residue; R<4> is a hydrogen atom or an organic residue] and/or the carboxylic acid vinyl esters represented by the formula (3): R<5> COO-CH=CH-R<4> [R<4> and R<5> are each independently a hydrogen atom or an organic residue].
