PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a cutting operation part (m) of a cutting edge chain means 2 act on branch cutting treatment more effectively and directly than a conventional one by making support of a supporting rod member 1 by an operator easy, and enabling the branch (w) to be stably cut even though a branch-pressing bar is not provided. SOLUTION: In a chain saw for cutting a branch at a high position wherein a handle part 5 is provided at a root part of a support rod member 1 having a several-meter length and a cutting edge chain means 2 to be operated by transmission of a rotary drive force is provided at a tip part, a projection part (h) projected toward a specific direction f1 of a side part of the tip part is formed at the tip part of the support rod member 1, and the cutting edge chain means 2 is extended in an opposed direction f2 of the specific direction f1 from the projected part (h).
